Last year David Mandel, creator of The Safe and Together Model, released his book Stop Blaming Mother and Ignoring Fathers: How To Make Children Safe From Domestic Violence. The book explores “myths” around domestic violence where children are present. This is a timely book and I believe should be recommended reading for all those who support families dealing with domestic violence. Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council invites you to a three part series to discuss three of themes in the book. The three themes will be: The Myth of the Child Witness, The Myth of the Domestic Violence Incident and The Myth of Perpetrator Accountability. This sessions will be interactive and you are invited to purchase the book from Amazon, not a requirement. The training is to highlight the points of the book and there will be time set aside for those who are reading the book to share during each session.
NOTE: A Certificate of Completion will be given per session. The Certificate can be used for BIPP facilitators to submit for their education hours. HCDVCC is an approved provider for Texas Council On Family Violence. No other professional CEU’s will be awarded.
